Receipt

Definition

A receipt is written proof that a customer has paid. It shows who paid, who was paid, the amount, the date, what the payment was for and how it was paid. Businesses issue receipts after payment; customers keep them as evidence for records, refunds, warranties and tax.

Issue a receipt for every payment, including part payments, and give each one its own number. A receipt can refer to the invoice it settles so both sides can match them later.

In Profynix receipts go out automatically when a payment is recorded or arrives through a payment link.
