Search the company registry, social handles and domain names before you print anything.
Before you fall in love with a name
- Search the company registry: the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria, the Office of the Registrar of Companies in Ghana, the Business Registration Service in Kenya, CIPC in South Africa, Companies House in the UK, or your state's business registry in the US.
- Check the Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp Business handle, and the .com or local domain (.ng, .com.gh, .co.ke, .co.za, .co.uk).
- Say it over the phone. If people ask you to spell it twice, keep looking.
- Leave room to grow: “Lekki Cakes” is harder to take to Abuja than “Ade Bakes”.
Names are generated in your browser from word lists; nothing is sent anywhere, and no name is checked for trademarks.
Questions, answered.
Is the business name generator free?
Yes, free with no sign-up. It runs in your browser and doesn't store what you type.
Are these names available?
The generator can't know. Check your country's company registry, trademark register, social handles and domain names before you use one.
How do I choose between names?
Pick the one that is easiest to say, spell and remember, fits what you might sell in five years and has the handles free.
Once I have a name, can Profynix set up the business?
Yes. Describe your business and Profynix sets up invoicing, books, customers and a website under your new name.
