The quick maths
To add 20% VAT, multiply by 1.2: GH₵1,000.00 becomes GH₵1,200.00. To take VAT out of a total, divide by the same number: GH₵1,200.00 becomes GH₵1,000.00, so the VAT inside it is GH₵200.00. In Ghana that GH₵200.00 is VAT GH₵150.00, NHIL GH₵25.00, GETFund levy GH₵25.00.
